"I'm of the belief that sometimes the universe lines things up in just a perfect way that you can't deny that they're meant to happen.

I lost my father when I was just about to turn 14, that was about 30 years ago. My younger sister and I have a very small collection of random objects of his that we've had since he passed. As we grew older we were given an old briefcase of his. Inside were personal journals, and various papers and documents that gave us a whole new perspective of who our father was and what his life was like. While reading through one of his journals, my sister found an entry talking about a random adventure the three of us went on. One line in particular stood out, "it was a spur of the moment idea". It managed to capture the emotion of the entry and how my father was feeling at the time.

My sister and I had decided to get matching tattoos to commemorate him and this memory. She got hers almost right away, I on the other hand, procrastinated. I had been to Lindsay's shop before and have been following her work, which is how I came across the post about the HeartShare project. I wasn’t even initially messaging her to ask for a tattoo, I was just reaching out to express what a lovely idea I thought it was…and then I remembered my own memorial tattoo that I had been putting off. We managed to connect and get my tattoo done. The love and attention Lindsay put not just into the work, but making a connection with the work is the part that will stick with me. It’s a work of love. It’s beautiful. And every time I look at it, I don’t just think about my father and that memory, I also think about the experience of getting the tattoo done and how emotional that experience was for me as well.

“I lost my mother at 16 years old in a car accident that took her life and left me hospitalized for weeks and not able to walk for almost a year. My mother was the heart of my family and her loss left a hole that will never be filled. Without her guidance, I ended up leaving home at 18 with only a few physical reminders of her and our life together. The writing that Lindsay so beautifully transferred onto me is from a birthday card my Mom wrote to me when I was 13 years old.

I was very lucky to have had a mother who was my best friend and who I knew was always in my corner. This writing is and will always be a great reminder for me that even though she is no longer with me, the love of a mother for a daughter never fades.

I so appreciated Lindsay opening up the space in her shop to celebrate those we have lost and to spread the light of their lives. My mother was active in a large amount of charities in her life so the fact that Lindsay so kindly used a tough time in her life to help others through service and giving was even more fitting for the experience.

"About 8 years ago I had my first piece done by Lindsay and now proudly wear multiple pieces of her artwork. I've always been amazed at her ability to bring what's in my head to life with her creativity and talent.

During the time we've spent together we've shared many stories, laughs and tears. We have had profound conversations that will remain with me forever.

Most recently, Lindsay has shown me a type of grace and resilience that I want to embody going forward in life. That we don't always have control, or get to choose our circumstances but we can always choose how we respond, and that love is always the very best choice. What a gift this human experience truly is, and the most meaningful thing we can do is make a connection with each other and to share our hearts with one another.

This tattoo for me is a reminder of the values I hold close to my heart; Integrity, Vulnerability, Humility, Connection, Love ❤️

It felt fitting to place it near my heart and beside another tattoo (one of the first Lindsay did for me), a reminder to myself "darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that". Even more special to have it support the Kindness Initiative since some extra kindness is needed now more then ever. What a beautiful way to share what's in your heart and pour love into the community.

"Lindsay, I truly enjoyed the time we spent together as well as the atmosphere you created before anything took place, even before sitting in the chair. It was very calming and personal and it was appreciated.

It was coming up on the 25th anniversary of my dad’s passing when I saw Lindsay’s post about giving her time to give out free heart tattoos ❤️in memory of someone you lost. I thought I was seeing things because NO tattoo artist would give their time and tattoo for FREE. Yes FREE!

I am so glad I reached out to Lindsay and told her I would be honored if she could tattoo a heart in memory of my dad. The day of my tattoo was 2 days before the anniversary of my dad's passing, which was perfect.

I was the typical daddy’s girl, he taught me everything I needed in life, respect, work ethic, love, and family. The placement of this tattoo makes a connection to the other two tattoos I have in memory of my dad, which represent how much I miss him and love him.

How many people would do something for someone and not ask for anything in return? Lindsay would! It was great catching up on our past lives and reminiscing about all the adventures we both have been through and how we survived to fight another day.

You have been dealt a hand that NO ONE should be dealt, but you are a fighter, and you will come out the other side as a Phoenix.

Lindsay, you are a wonderful person inside and out and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Please keep in touch and I will be cheering you on from the sidelines!
