H o l l o w K n i g h t. Thank you John for trusting me with this project. I had a wonderful time re-exploring Hollow Knight while I prepped the design; it felt necessary to immerse myself in its atmosphere again to really try to capture it in the tattoo. John's concept for the project was to depict a moment of peace in Hallownest amidst a dangerous world full of enemies and challenges. To have the Knight taking a break on a bench, a brief respite before they resume their journey, was such a fun idea and I really wanted to portray that vibe through the colors as much as the subjects. For those in the know, there's a lot here to see and enjoy. There's a small Easter Egg that gave me no small amount of joy to include. Given the sheer amount of enemies and bosses in Hollow Knight, we narrowed it down to some of John's favourites, including the Mantis Lords at the top, Grimm of the Grimm Troupe, one of the Watcher Knights, and then a few of the more common bugs seems around Hallownest. Finally, as a framing device, we've used the rough shape of a Great Wyrm's horns on either side as well as the three masks of the Dreamers. I hope you all enjoy! It was a challenging piece and I'm thrilled I had the opportunity to tattoo some Hollow Knight stuff again.
