⚠️Gotta catch ‘em all!⚠️

I made a little selection of Pokémon Tattoos I’ve done on the past few years. I’m on vacation so I don’t have new Tattoos to post anyway who cares? We all love Pokémon, we gotta catch ‘em all!!!

If there’s something that makes me happy is to make Pokémon Tattoos! It really gives me that butterflies feeling that only nostalgia can provoke and brings straight back to my childhood when I use to play it with my friends @samdonadi and Bolinho (who’s not on Instagram but he is worth the mention). Fucking good times! I’m lucky I can still feel that way while doing my job now a days.

So if you’re thinking about getting a Pokémon Tattoo even if it’s a crazy one such as Dragonite and Gengar going on vacation or Sukuna Gengar or your Pokémon trainer…. Hit me up! Of course I’ll analise the idea to check if it’s nice or not but I can draw anything your imagination can think unless it’s an awful idea ahahha

⚠️Black work, illustrative? Yes I do! And I do it good⚠️

For the past few days I’ve been posting a little bit more of my work. Since I open @itaitattoo together with @cosmobotic I feel like I was put in a box. That’s not necessarily a bad thing since from when I started Tattooing in 2013 I always wanted to work with Anime related themes but my areas of interest are more comprehensive than that and that’s also valid for my artwork and for my Tattooing.

I started taking this thing of being an artist as a career at a very early age. It was 2006 and I was only 16 years old when I began University and that was an Artschool. I don’t know what is it but I never could focus on working in a single style, never liked to be labeled or limited to one technique or aesthetic. Why giving myself cuffs if I can be good in many different things?

So there goes Ernestinho drawing with markers, watercolor, acrylic painting, lithography, silkscreen, woodblock printing, etching, linocut printing, digital art… you name it. And all those techniques open up for different aesthetics and a very broad universe of ways I could work and I love that!

Same goes for Tattooing. I love to work with many different styles within my range! So if you’re looking for something different than just Anime Tattoos, don’t keep me in a box! Bring it on!!!

⚠️One Piece Manga Panels⚠️

I thought about making a post with manga panels in general but I’ll leave that for tomorrow. I couldn’t resist passing by those and not putting them together in a bundle. You folks make me so happy every time I get to make one of those into a Tattoo! Can you imagine that sometimes my job is to turn parts of that manga e really love into Tattoos! It’s like playing make believe I’m a mangaka!

Manga panels work really good as Tattoos! But often I get requests and people are very precise about the measures they want their Tattoo to be and often it’s something like 5x5 cm. I know you see a lot of micro manga panels around the internet… I have an advice for you. Don’t trust them! They will look like 💩 in the future. So if you want a manga panel Tattoo, compromise, make sure you really love that and go for it. Make it proper and you wont regret!

I never got the opportunity to take a good picture of this Tattoo while fresh but fresh Tattoos don’t tell much. Luckily this weekend @hangloo5e came to our winter market and I got the chance to register this 2 to 3 years old healed Freeza.

⚠️Irezumi and Japanese folklore inspired Tattoos⚠️

One of the most direct and beautiful sources where I’ve drank from. I simply love all the themes and colors from Japanese Tattoos. No mystery there, a very sophisticated simplicity which works perfectly as a Tattoo.

Here are some pieces I’ve done and really enjoyed. It was quite hard to select them cause there were so many cool pieces on that style I got lost!

⚠️I’m the man who will become the king of the Pirates⚠️

That will actually be super hard to write about this guy! I’m definitely biased when the subject is One Piece. It’s definitely my number one favorite series with no doubt! You folks probably already noticed.

What does it mean actually mean when he says that iconic line about becoming the Pirate king? One thing we know… it’s definitely not about conquering anything material but actually to be free, to achieve the point where not only you but everyone else is free! Which means that everyone will be able to eat as much as they can! And that says a lot about who you are!

In my opinion Luffy is the best example of what a human being should be! You might think he is dumb at first sight but to be honest you must read a little bit Draper in between the lines to learn a great lesson. I wish sometimes I’d be a little bit more like him!

☠️Not that Classic but clean and bold Tattoos☠️

That’s the slogan I used to operate under. What do you mean used to? Yea, how can I say? Now it’s more like I don’t have many opportunities to make them anymore. I don’t know what is this thing of I started making anime Tattoos and suddenly everyone assume I only want to do that… I also blame social media for that (yes I like to complain about it 😅 but at the same time I need it to get my work out there).

It likes to put us in boxes, it likes to dictate where you belong too. Guess what I don’t belong anywhere! I like to fluctuate and be able to explore different places, to be able to discover new things and play around with whatever I can. So I do like Anime, I like comic books, I like Traditional Tattoos, Japanese Tattoos and I like making music, writing songs, cooking, I’m a dog person, I’m a cat person, I’m an extrovert and I’m an introvert too……

Let’s dance! doesn’t matter the music! Come with me and I’ll show you through my vision how I experience the world creating beautiful things!

⚠️The greedy costumer Paradox⚠️

Everyday we deal with different kinds of costumers and sometimes we bump into a dead end. The dead ends don’t listen, it’s almost like the devil whispers in their ears to ask for everything they shouldn’t do when it comes to get a Tattoo.

In this case bro came from another country wanted to get a Tattoo waaay too big in full color on his ribcage in one session. Guess what? I will never be able to finish it and that’s really a bummer, it means all the effort I put there is going down the water. You can see in the video how much he shakes. Never underestimate pain!

“The dead end” costumer can come in many shapes. From the person who goes greedy and wants to make something huge in one go to the person who will just ask you to place a Tattoo on a spot it doesn’t really fit and will send you a picture of the spot like they’re giving you something special…. What did they all have in common? They don’t listen to advice.

I believe in the end everyone gets the Tattoo they deserve. I’ll put all my effort to make it good but sometimes it’s hard to work under so much pressure and limitations.

So I’ll give you some important advice to work with me in order to achieve the best results.

- Don’t rush the process. Not everything has to be done in one session.

- Listen to you artist’s advice about size, placement, composition. They have experience and they want to make a good Tattoo!

- Don’t try to be in control of everything. This is a collective work where the costumer and the artist will find together a way to the best result but the artist has experience and knows how it works technically.

- Compromise. If you want to get Tattooed, get Tattooed. Don’t come around hesitating or asking for everything to be as small as possible. Tattoos need to be the size they need to be in order to become a good Tattoo in the end.

- Don’t underestimate the amount of pain you might feel. Pain is an important signal our body sends so we can understand our limits. Sometimes you can take it all and some times it’s good to split the work in sessions. Also, every skin is different and reacts in different way so let’s respect your limits.
