On August 10th around 6 PM, as the sun poured in our windows and the kids stood around Nick, we experienced a beautiful thinning of the veil moment, one where Nick found his way back to us, if only briefly. He looked at me and said “It’s a short sidewalk” and in that moment, I understood his time to communicate with us on this side was limited.

We surrounded him, letting him know how much we loved him. For those fleeting moments, he was truly himself again, throwing up the deuces, making us laugh. The moment passed quickly, but its impact was profound for all of us.

Not long after, our friend Stephen came over as we were sitting on the bed next to Nick I shared how he had returned to us. Stephen and I both knew this moment needed to be preserved. That’s when we decided he would tattoo it on me, a permanent tribute to something so fleeting yet so profound.

Yesterday, Stephen did just that. At first we weren’t sure how to capture something so indescribable but somehow he did. We envisioned Nick standing at the edge, speaking to us on this side, while behind him, the infinite called him back. 🤍

Thank you @mondotattooer I am so thankful for your endless love and support and for being such an incredible friend to Nick.
