Ever heard about the one eyed dog named lucky? Well this one is named shadow and he lived a great life with an owner that truly saw the best in him. Shadow was a bait dog for pit fighting. That’s how he lost his eye. Hopefully I don’t need to explain how tragic that can be and how hard it is to find a foster home let alone a permanent home. Shadow had passed away with the majority of his life being one of happiness and service. I shared this story with my daughter to teach her about sadness and loss also how not to judge a book by its cover. I mentioned that this drawing/tattoo was a way for the owner to remember Shadow after he passed away. She said that’s not a sad story but amazing that this tattoo was there for remembrance and that it made her smile. I told her that’s why we do it. Shared the long version from above during the tattoo and the whole place was glassy eyed and sentimental. I think a few of us called our parents just to say hi. Tattoos are rad.
